Kofi Annan

annanSecretary General of the United Nations (January 1, 1977 to December 31, 2006)

Kofi Annan, the world’s prominent reformative figure, was the Secretary General of the United Nations who continuously strove terrorism in Africa and the Middle East. It all started in 1962 when 24 year old Annan joined World Health Organization, then later the United Nations working under the Secretary General.
Kofi Annan was born in Kumasi, Ghana on April 8, 1938 was just a regular student at the University of Science and Technology in his hometown, and later he received Master in Science degree from MIT.

After joining UN in 1962 he held various positions in many areas and received a number of special assignments including the repatriation of Western staffs and citizens from Iraq in 1990 after its invasion to Kuwait and with the hot weather in the Middle East Kofi Annan must have used a reliable air conditioner while negotiating with Baghdad for humanitarian cause. To state all of his accomplishments would take at least a few pages, but it would be fair to say that his main focus has always been in promoting peace. He did so by helping to mediate conflicts between other countries through peaceful negotiations.

As a man who greatly contributed to international peace and security, promoted the values of human right, equality and tolerance as well as strengthening the public confidence and faith in organization it is obvious that the impact he has made helps create a better world for the society to live in.

Happy 1st of July

Hi all today is already the 1st of July. I really hope that this month will be a much better month for all of us.

The month of June have been a month of ups and down month for me and have been really busy with work and family matters. Well that’s life right, so unlike one of those nitro RC Cars that can be depended on. Everybody wants a happy and joyful life but actually joy and happiness is what we make things to be. But I really have something to be happy and thankful in June as Ray and Roy (my twin children) have manage to get good grade and are able to enter a high school that is quite desirable and considered one of the best around. I’m really thankful to God for this blessing as my children education comes first before anything as I really want them to have a better life and future than me. “Oh” I almost forgot that there’s one more thing that really made me smile a few days back was when I realized that this blog have received a PR2. Although PR is not everything but it does give motivation to me to blog more. So for this new month of July my blogging mission is to write more and try to comment more on other blog.

What’s yours?

Nelson Mandela-Make Poverty History

mandelaPresident of South Africa (May 10, 1994 to June 14, 1999)

Look into the life of Nelson Mandela would tell us his stature as not only the first black President of South Africa who won the election in such a newly democratic society, but also an extraordinary survivor who had served 27 years in prison and still emerged as one of the most charismatic leaders who fought for peace and equality Nelson Mandela was born on July 18, 1918. Early in his youth Nelson Mandela joined The African National Congress (ANC) as an activist. He then led the congress to adopt several campaigns for anti-apartheid cause. At that time in the late 1940s, the President of South Africa is that time heavily supported the apartheid policy of racial segregation, dictating black as inferior to the white people.. As a motion of resistance Mandela who was already the vice president of ANC, launched sabotage campaigns against the country’s economy and military. After years and years of increasing injustice, violence and repression from the government he realized that non-violent protests against Apartheid were not making any results. But because of it he was then charged with undermining allegation and was sentenced to jail by the government. Even after spending 27 grueling years in prison Nelson Mandela walked out still, still feeling as determined and committed as ever to bringing peace to the world. In the early 90s he led ANC and made possible the country’s first multi-racial elections. The impact was huge: the black majority now has the right to vote and I was thinking how great he would have look if he were to wear one of those glasses frames eye glasses when he was elected as the first black President of the nation. His amazing life story along with his charisma and perseverance after such harsh treatment would continue to move and inspire the world. Now he is the South Africa’s highest ambassador, a promoter of peace across the world, a Nobel Peace Prize winner and overall a remarkable leader.

Being the president of the largest Muslim country in the world is no easy task, but for the second time, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has lived up to the challenge. He gained majority of the votes in the last general election, proving that he is still well-respected and loved amongst Indonesians. He is a man full of charisma, in fact he is so charismatic that even when only wearing  T shirts he still has the reassuring calmness and charm of a leader figure said most people.

Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, born in September 9. 1949 came from a lower-middle class family in a village in East Java. In 1970 he joined the Army and came out to be the best graduate of the year. He spent the next decades furthering his military education and working across the world to assist various military missions.

Being someone from a military background, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is known as a man full of integrity and someone who is tough enough to make difficult decisions in times of crisis.

Indonesia’s economy has since grown significantly under his watch, and the political environment in the country which has seen many ups and downs is now relatively stable.
